There are a couple things happening this weekend to wrap up National Child Abuse Awareness Month!
On Saturday evening at 7pm, the Eagle Lodge is hosting a fundraiser for CASA. They will be offering a rib eye steak dinner for $10. Where else can you eat like that and help a good cause on a Saturday night? They will also have bar drinks available for sale.
The event will take place at 507 CR 7300, Lubbock. For those of you who need directions: you head south on the Tahoka Hwy. Exit on 114th Street. Turn east under the underpass and the building will be on the right about a 1/4 mile down.
Then on Sunday, we ask you and your church join with us for Blue Sunday. Blue Sunday is a collaboration of local area churches to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect on the South Plains. Blue is the color of choice due to blue being the color of child abuse awareness. During services on April 25, we are asking local churches to express their commitment to ending child abuse by praying for the victims of child abuse and the individuals who work with them.
On “Blue Sunday” we ask area churches to representing our three pronged effort: To Warn, To Mourn, & and To Restore. CASA of the South Plains seeks to warn the public about prevalence of child neglect and abuse in our local area as well as provide information on the often-subtle signs of child abuse or neglect. In addition, the period of reflection is an opportunity for each community to mourn the loss of a child’s innocence and/or self-esteem because of neglect and abuse. Finally, we want to reflect on a restoration of each child’s state of mind, body and spirit.
We hope you will join us for at least one of these two weekend events!
