Project Linus

The Lubbock Chapter of Project Linus brought blankets to CASA this morning!  The mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”

 Thank you Project Linus!

On November 20, the local Chapter of Project Linus invites all caring citizens to join them at Groves Library, on 19th near Chicago. They will be working on projects, sharing ideas, and visiting with guests. There will be a table for kids to work on blocks, a fleece work table, information about the mission of Project Linus, and refreshments. Come by and see the beautiful quilts, blankets, and afghans made by the dedicated West Texas blanketeers.

Playhouse # 5

Today we will highlight our final playhouse - # 5. This playhouse was built by Hindman Custom Built Homes. It is the Hindman's third year to participate in this event and he seems to get more creative each year.

This "surf shack" as some people are beginning to call it is located in the South Plains Mall parking lot, near the south end of Barnes & Noble.

This playhouse has more detail than can be fully seem in pictures with it's bamboo siding, tin front, and fish inside the playhouse. It also has grass (think grass skirts) all the way around it along the bottom. It also has a blue floor to go along with the ocean theme. You should stop by on your way into the Mall to see it.  This playhouse is perfect for both kids and adults. Many adults keep stating that they would like to have this one in their back yard for when they host parties or functions.

To purchase tickets for this playhouse or any of the others, please visit http://lubbockcasa.org/casasforcasaonlinetickets2010.htm

The online ticket sales will end at 5:00 pm on Sunday so we can get all the tickets ready for the 6:00 pm drawing. Be sure to purchase your tickets before then!

Playhouse # 4

Playhouse # 4 was built by Betenbough Homes. Betenbough always goes above and beyond with their little "casas" they donate to CASA. This year, Betenbough built a smaller version of one of their current home models. It is adorable!

Filled with toy tools, and accompanied by a miniature Betenbough truck this is the perfect workshop for any boy or girl. We will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Playhouse # 3

Today we are highlighting Playhouse # 3 by Chiggerflat Playhouses. Ray from Chiggflat's has his own playhouse company based in Childress. This is his first year building for Casas for CASA and we could not be more excited.

Playhouse # 3 is adorable with its rounded sides and pitched roof. It is beautifully hand-painted both outside and inside. It also includes a loft, which has been a favorite of many of the children who stop by to visit it at the South Plains Mall.
