National CASA Updates

Court Appointed Special Advocates has recently received some great publicity at the National level!

There is an article about an Advocate in this month's issue of Family Circle Magazine. You can check it out here

Additionally, Grammy Award winning R&B artist Anthony Hamilton is the latest celebrity to serve as a spokesperson for National CASA. "Our boys need positive role models," expressed Hamilton. "Becoming a part of CASA will provide me with an opportunity to reach out to those men who can become everyday heroes to these children, and help change their life of hurt, into one of hope." Hamilton joins the ranks of Dr. Phil & Robin McGraw who also serve as spokespeople for CASA.

CASA Legislative Advocacy

The State of Texas is facing a large budget shortfall - a revised estimate of a $26.8 billion deficit to be exact. We truly need everyone’s help in continuing to urge our legislators not to cut valuable state funding for foster children. CASA will host a Legislative Advocacy night on January 19th from 4:30 to 6pm at the CASA Office located at #24 Briercroft Office Park. We will have postcards available for you to send to area Legislators on behalf of CASA kids. Light refreshments will also be served. All are welcome to attend, so please consider bringing a friend or family member with you! The more people who take a few moments to contact our Legislators the better!
