Today, CASA will be attending the Volunteer Center of Lubbock's Youth Celebration of Service luncheon and agency fair. This is such a fun event each year. Hundreds of middle and high school youth are honored for their service to our local community within the past year. It is always so inspiring to see how many youth are giving back and it provides hope that the future of our community is in good hands with these youth.
The Volunteer Center of Lubbock has several unique programs for youth which allow them to serve on some non-profit boards as well as give grants to local agencies by making the decisions from the application stage through the decision and presentation phase.
Last year, CASA was blessed to be the recipient of one of these grants chosen by youth. Additionally, during the agency fair in 2009 the Student Counsel came up to CASA and told us that they had been collecting cleaning supplies for us! We had no idea they had decided to do this! They came over to our office after the luncheon last year to present us with the items. We at CASA were so blessed by their generosity! The Roosevelt Student Counsel has since remained involved with CASA by helping at various other events.
Needless to say, we are excited about being able to attend and participate in the Youth Celebration of Service event again today.
